Dr. Kim Sanders

- Dr. Kim Sanders is a senior leader in population health, government programs, health care, peer review, program evaluation, grant writing and public health informatics. She has gained technical assistance and program management experience by guiding all levels of IT, health care and public health professionals through research, grant writing/request for proposals, data collection, program evaluation and monitoring, reporting, clinical systems and software engineering and configuration, policy development, and strategic implementations. In this capacity she has inspired and fostered team commitment, pride, and trust. Dr. Sanders is adept at facilitating cooperation and motivating team members to accomplish group or personal goals. She thrives on strategy development, research, program evaluation, capitalizing on opportunities and managing risk. Dr. Sanders values cultural competency and respects diversity. Dr. Sanders is frequently tapped to peer review for a few journals to determine publication readiness.
Dr. Sanders completed or graduate studies at the University of Phoenix. She earned a Doctorate in Health Administration (DHA) in 2011, and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2004. She has spent the last 20 years as a heath care/public health, IT consultant who has experience at both the state and federal levels directing and evaluating government programs. As such she has gained knowledge about the significant facets of health policy, social justice, leadership and public health coupled with skills in critical thinking, analytical writing, and public speaking.
Dr. Sanders gained international experience when she was asked to develop and facilitate a course for an international university in Jakarta, Indonesia. She completed a 4-year guest lecture series delivering an introduction to public health informatics course she developed for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Sanders serves as doctoral mentor for Walden University DHA and Public Health PhD programs in the School of Health Sciences. She is adjunct faculty at California Baptist University. It is in these roles that she has become skillful in educating educators and adult professional learners.

- I have over five years of experience mentoring and teaching students across diverse educational levels, from high school to doctoral programs. As a Ph.D. graduate in Engineering Education Systems & Design, I have guided students through research projects, supported their academic writing, and helped them navigate complex educational systems—particularly international and first-generation students. I’ve taught qualitative research methods, facilitated intercultural learning workshops, and supported STEM outreach programs aimed at increasing access for underrepresented groups. My mentoring style is student-centered, empathetic, and focused on empowering learners to explore their interests with confidence and curiosity.
